🧖🏽♀️💬💫 FRIDAY 5 FAVORITE THINGS: SELF-LOVE IS IN THE AIR
Hello and Happy New Year. As we step into 2024, I'm curious – how is the year treating you so far? How do you feel? What's your weather report? Mine is warm and partly sunny. I am cozy. It's never perfect but lately I feel pretty content with my day to day. My days are becoming more uniquely me.. does that makes sense? Things I wanted and planned for myself years ago are now automatic routine. Appointments get booked. Reminders go out and all the other prep things happen. I go to work. Do inventory. Orders come in and I fulfill them. Before that, I batch according to forecast. I go to the coffee house I love to caffeinate a little for it then I make the recipes selected for the week after all of it. It's really nice when things come together and, of course, sometimes they don't. That's all to say I believe in the merits of planning and vision. Sorry to start 2024 in such a cheesy and "Saltie" way but I want to remind you: The World is Your Oyster. You can do anything you want to do in your own unique way. Start doing it and stop caring what other people think. Disney, of course, says it better, "When you wish upon a star. Makes no difference who you are. Anything your heart desires. Will come to you." There's truth to that. January is for that. January is for wishing...
So wish! Reflect and set intentions. Then plan. Calendarize. Make yourself a system for how you're going to water your wishes. The grass is greener where you water it. Let's take that into 2024. Amidst the organizing frenzy, I'm also taking moments to indulge in the things I enjoy – from hosting dinner parties to delving into exciting product development and planning a trip around Valentine'a Day. That reminds me, don't forget to book your February massage appointments – it's the perfect time to prioritize self-care and ensure the positive energy continues to flow throughout the year. Cheers to your year a head! I wish you the best.
"Before #1-5, here's a little Lightning Round. A round up of little things that have been sparking joy for me lately. Ok, let's go."
Listening to: The Founded Beauty Podcast with Trish McEvoy. Trish is forever my favorite. Classic. Another beauty listen has been Leonard Lauder's book, The Company I Keep.
Loving: My morning workouts at the gym. I joined one right before the Holidays and, already, getting back to movement has done wonders for my energy and how I feel.
Ordering: Packaging samples for Fall 2024 launches. Decisions! Decisions!
Eating: Greek yogurt with blackberries, honey and sea salt.
Following: @classofpalmbeach, @retailboss, @rob.saves, @thekitchn
Diffusing: Gingerbread Man Essential Oil Blend all through winter. When I am working and can focus, I will diffuse new samples of Essential Oil Diffuser Blends for the home.
Eating: Pot Roast every other Sunday. This recipe from Half Baked Harvest. Is that indulgent? We usually invite people over for it since it's such a big, winter meal and it gives good leftovers for the week. This recipe is the absolute best. Double the carrots.
Wearing: Lab samples of a new skincare mega moisture mist and face oil. I love packaging but I am stuck on if we should keep our beauty items oceanic colored or go pink + black. I'll poll you all on Instagram about this soon..
Watching: "Fool Me Once". We binged it in a weekend.
Drinking: Celsius Energy Drink in Berry. I'll only drink half a container before the gym and save the remainder for the next day.
Hi, I'm Jenna
The blogs you'll find here are inspired by my interests in beauty + wellness which developed from collecting fashion magazines during my newspaper carrying days in elementary school. I later attended Umass Lowell and graduated from FIDM before working for world renowned estheticians and beauty brands. Today I am an e-commerce marketer and Amazon specialist for 3 wonderful companies on Cape Cod and newly licensed LMT still studying for my esthetician's license. I'm a curious, color-obsessed creative.

1. FRENCH ONION SOUP FROM OLD YARMOUTH INN
Brrr, it's cold outside and some days (even when there is ice everywhere) we're still running around crazy busy. When the hustle is real (in January!?), our local spot that feels like a warm hug is Old Yarmouth Inn on 6A. It was one of the first date night spots me and my boyfriend would frequent and now it's our Cheers — only we have Di not Diane! I'm going to share for people not local to Cape Cod that it's little slice of Cape Cod's past dating back to 1696 with its antique charm and cozy atmosphere. There's 2, maybe 3?, fireplaces which help melt off the edge if you're feeling a little icy this winter. So does the Blood Orange Marg and now OYI has my favorite Ghost Tequila so I'll order that at the bar where we like to sit. Dinner lately has been a $10 simple - but rich - French Onion Soup. And that's it. It hits the spot especially on nights where we don't feel like cooking and want to be instantly be warmed up. Other favorite dishes include the short ribs and lobster pasta. And the Carrot Cake for dessert? A local's favorite that never disappoints. I'm getting hungry..
2. BE RIGHT "BATH" — OUR BOMBS AND SOAKS ARE GETTING A MAJOR GLOW UP
It's an amazing time to be part of the Cape Saltie story ... I think!! And I'm thrilled I get to share the exciting relaunch of our bath soaks SOON. This is a product that holds a special place in our beginning. Remember when I had a jar edition that I "lovingly" painted and sold at Brooks Park? Over 1,000 of them! Oh, Jenna... Here's what's changing and a little sneak peek of what we didn't go with..
Evolution and Options:
The biggest change you'll notice is that we're now offering two variations of our bath soaks. Why? Because I believe in choices. You get to decide whether you want an all-essential oils bath experience or opt for a phthalate-free fragrance at safety-tested percentages. It's about giving you the option to choose the sensory experience that resonates with you. When I started Cape Saltie, I came from a hyper-natural background. The industry saw a surge of "clean washing," and my perspective has evolved. While essential oils are fantastic, incorrect percentages can cause irritation and inflammation too. It's about formulating according to the safety documentation, sourcing from quality suppliers and finding a balance. I'm happy to introduce new sensory experiences without scare tactics or rigid philosophies. You choose what feels right for you.
Packaging Upgrade:
The packaging got that Glow Up! It now feels like a Cape keepsake – something you'd grab off the shelves and proudly line your suitcase with to take home to your girlfriends. They look like candy, and I can't wait to have them at the studio. The packaging is a game-changer. It gives you more control over how much you use, better storage options, and a sense of nostalgia whenever you reach for it.
So, whether you're unwinding after a long day or creating a spa-like experience at home, our revamped bath soaks are here to elevate your self-care routine. And, let's talk about why soaking is so great, especially in the winter. It's not just a luxurious indulgence; it's a treat for your muscles. As the temperatures drop, a warm soak can ease tension, soothe muscles, and provide a moment of tranquility in the midst of the winter hustle.
3. THE ULTIMATE SELF-LOVE CHECKLIST
While searching for the perfect 2024 planner, I found ones that were almost there, but missing the daily self-checks for the little things that truly add up and make us feel great. So, I adapted a template to create the Ultimate Cape Saltie Self Love checklist – a printable can download for free. Whether you add it to your planner or keep it bedside for a monthly journaling session, it's designed to make February a month of self-love and reflection. I hope you love the checklist.
4. NEW FALMOUTH MASSAGE & BODYWORK SERVICES FOR VALENTINE'S DAY
Valentine's vibes are in full swing at our Falmouth Heights location, and I've got some exciting news. Introducing the Strawberry Rose edition of our Saltie Body Scrub and our Total Body Glow Treatment in NEW Chocolate Covered Strawberry!
Let's talk about the star of the show—the Strawberry Rose Saltie Body Scrub. My fav! It's not just a scrub; it's a love letter to your skin. Sugar, Shea Butter, Strawberry, and a powerhouse cocktail of natural oils + beta-hydroxy acid team up to hydrate your skin and leave you looking soft as a petal. That beta-hydroxy acid dives deep into pores, dissolving oil and dead skin cells for improved clarity and texture. Infused with Rose Absolute Essential Oil is from Bulgaria. This is not fake rose or synthetic rose. This is real deal ROSE! This treatment is all goodness. No alcohol, no formaldehyde, no gluten, no parabens, no sulfates, and 100% vegan.
If you know Cape Saltie, you know the Total Body Glow is our most luxurious treatment. Whether you're treating yourself or sharing this experience with a loved one, the Total Body Glow in Chocolate Covered Strawberry is 2 hours of sweet indulgence. First, we do a Dry Brush Treatment to the entire body before our Strawberry Sugar Scrub buffs away dull, dry skin with natural cane sugar, shea butter, strawberry, and beta-hydroxy acid while adding hydration and brightness. Next we apply a warmed, chocolate enzyme masque to tone your skin for an even, radiant complexion, condition it for a softer, younger feel, and improve elasticity to reduce fine lines and wrinkles. I am obsessed with it.. it smells like warm brownies!! The antioxidants in the masque protect your skin from environmental damage, promoting enhanced dermatologic health. It's another warm hug for February, leaving you with a firmer, more youthful glow. And it wouldn't be Cape Saltie if you didn't get a 60 Minute Massage to complete the second portion of the treatment. Hello, Cupid? Is this for real? Let's make it a Valentine's date and get you scheduled by booking here.
5. VALENTINES FROM HOT CHOCOLATE SPARROW
Remember when I talked about being uniquely me? One thing I love about life here is my tradition of going to Hot Chocolate Sparrow for every Valentine's Day, Easter, Halloween, and Christmas for chocolate gifts and little somethings. They have me 4x a year! I am a sucker for their cute packaging and gifts. I remember reading an article once about how people felt when the location had to close for Covid and the owner said something like it's so much more than just people's daily coffee. Going for their coffee is where people experience community in their day. So true. It's more than just chocolate. It's a tradition of thoughtfulness for me. My love language is probably gift giving and words of affirmation (always in writing). I hope people feel that about the purchases they make at Cape Saltie. I hope we can be sentimental for you. That would make my year to hear/see in a review. Wink face. Xo, Cheers!
