🥒🛁🫧 FRIDAY 5 FAVORITE THINGS: MELTING INTO SUMMER
Welcome to Memorial Day Weekend! The quintessential New England charm is in full swing, and I’m excited to share how I’m melting into the holiday weekend. Whether you're a local or visiting Cape Cod soon, let this be your guide to getting into the groove ASAP so you can fully enjoy your long weekend here.
I say "melting" because I’m making it my priority to relax ASAP and appreciate where I am. There was a time when I wanted to be in the season I’m in now, and this is certainly Cape Cod’s quintessential season. Summer is to the Cape & Islands what Valentine's Day is to Paris. I’ve said it before — to me, Cape is synonymous with relaxation and healing, just as Paris is with romance. That entire city – the sweets, the architecture, the ruffle on a Chloé dress – is as ornate as a lacy valentine. Here on the Cape, our sea foam green color palette, aromatic haze of lilac bushes, and the sound of crashing ocean waves are like the blueprint for a beautiful spa.
But that doesn’t mean I’m always in that serene space. Despite feeling like I’m at the start of one of the best weekends of summer, my Friday was a bit of a sh*t show and I have A LOT going on. We all do, right? That’s even more reason to get your headspace in a good place as soon as possible so you can be present during your downtime here. You all deserve time and space to relax and take care!!
This week's Friday Favorites are a few suggestions (coming from dis local) that helped me unwind, de-stress, and fully embrace that Cape escape we’re known for. It is so fulfilling to be a part of that landscape. If you read Cape Saltie's Philosophy, you'll learn why. As we contemplate balance and relaxation this Memorial Day, let's pause to honor the sacrifices of those who have served our country. Thank you.
"Before #1-5, here's a little Lightning Round. A round up of little things that have been sparking joy for me lately. Ok, let's go."
Eating: The lemon garlic olives from Whole Foods with a Jamaican Me Crazy ice coffee from Woolfie's Bakery in Dennis. You have to get the coffee ice cubes. Strong black Coffee and olives together is one of my favorite combos.
Ordering: Scent samples. Wow, this one is exciting. We will be exploring new natural fragrances from Switzerland in consideration for Aromatherapy Roll-Ons and At-Home Diffuser Oils. Whenever I poll you, you always say you want more scents for the home. Well, for now, Gingerbread Man stands alone until I can find other scents that I feel would round out your scent library. As soon as I have updates, I will share.
Eating: A lazy lobster from Old Yarmouth Inn. When it's CRAZY on a Friday and we need a transition into the weekend, OYI is our go-to. We try to get there super early for the pre-6 at the bar. I love so many dishes on their menu but opted for the lobster to get me in the MDW mood.
Listening to: Dancing around the house to "A Bar Song" by Shaboozey. I am *trying* to show my boyfriend how to dance to it.. Also on repeat this week, "I Remember Everything" by Zach Bryan and Kacey Muscgraves.
Wearing: A new sweater from Changing Tides consignment in Chatham. See more below.
Burning: Bedrock Tree Farm Candles in Lavender. I need to do a restock because I just sold my last one last week. Can you please shoot me a message if you want to put an order in for summer? Personally, I love the Lavender, Shiso and Lemongrass for this season.
Drinking: A Ghost Tequila Paloma with a splash of pomegranate juice.
Enjoying: Being a new vendor at Mashpee's first ever Farmer's Market. I had such an amazing time at the first one. All the fresh produce is top notch and who doesn't love grabbing a little craft beer to sip at Naukabout's spot while shopping? You can see the full line up of markets I will be attending on my schedule HERE.
Loving: Our Fizzing Bath Powder in Fairy Floss. I go more into detail below. Definitely check it out.
Eating: Meal prepped veggies. I don't have time for meal prepping but, in reality, I'm not making time. After a long day of work, I come home and raid the cabinets for something and usually end up having some junk before dinner. It's whatever is there so this week I am making a point to go into the week with an AR-SE-NAL of "meal prepped", fresh cut organic veggies. I want to have a STASH of healthiness to go to when I'm low on fuel.
Wanting: More time to be creative. As my calendar gets more full with work and appointments, I don't want to lose the creative time ratio I strive for so I'm trying to be more conscientious on how I use my time and how I can broaden the reach of my creative output.

1. CHANGING TIDES CONSIGNMENT IN CHATHAM
Alright, let's go treasure hunting, because that's exactly what a trip to Changing Tides Consignment in Chatham feels like. Now, I'm usually not one to gatekeep, but after our last thrift went to sh*t (assortment is blah and prices skyrocketed) Im, hmm, trepidatious to share this one because it felt like a lil' goldmine. This isn't thrift, it's luxury consignment with jaw-dropping low price tags. Score! That's what I want.. I don't want to walk into a thrift and feel like I'm paying a TJ Maxx markdown for mediocre stuff. To me, places like this should feel like treasure hunting, that's what makes it fun but, truly, Changing Tides felt like a little boutique because everything was pristine, steam-cleaned and garments look like they had never been worn. Some had not. Mint Jimmy Choos, a gorgeous Rebecca Taylor sundress, ample cashmere, a quilted mint Brooks Brothers jacket. Please don't get those though because I think I want to go back for them. Seriously, after a long Friday and a mirgaine, this spot was like waving a magic wand and turning my mood around. My little treat to myself warmly welcomed me into my weekend.
2. BOTANICALLY BLISSED OUT WITH LAVENDER INFUSED FAIRY FLOSS FIZZING BATH POWDER
At the end the day or a long week... is there anything better than sinking into a warm steam bath and unwinding? Actually, there is! When your bath is infused with epsom salt & coconut oil and scented with Lavender and cotton candy, it's downright dreamy. This is the ultimate trick to getting calm and cozy in a flash.. a sparkle – our Fairy Floss Fizzing Bath Powder. I am totally enchanted by it! A lot of clients book me right around their arrival time on a Friday night so they can ease themselves into the weekend. I love that Cape Saltie could be as ahh-inspiring as how we all feel when we cross over the Sagamore bridge because that's a ... vibe!!! But, when you can't make it in, take a quick batch to dust off your day then get into your weekend.
Back to Fairy Floss, specifically. Why is it so special? Well I just revamped it and now I think it's truly the best in the collection. Picture this: a blend of lavender, known for its calming properties, but with a twist. This isn't your basic lavender – it's cotton candy-coated lavender, infused with the scent of spun sugar. Chic, right? This is how you create a more enchanted bath experience, you swirl in the pink and blue hues of our Fairy Floss Fizzing Bath Powder. Each 15oz packette is a dreamy treatment, providing 3-5 luxurious soaks to brush away worries and leave you feeling botanically blissed out.
3. MY NEW BEDTIME RITUAL
Let's talk about winding down after a long week, because who doesn't love a good night's sleep? Especially when you can finally sleep with the windows open. I'm hearing peepers and alllll the sounds. Love it. I want to get back into meditation but I am struggling with it. Well here's a trick to ease in.. a little "mental melatonin" trick I've also been loving lately – saying a quick prayer for everyone I'll see the next day in the order that I will see them. It's like counting sheep, but with a sprinkle of gratitude and connection. And you know what? It works like a charm! By the time I've said a 3-4 prayers (no longer than a sentence each), I'm usually drifting off so those handful of people I'll see are -hopefully- getting a lot of good coming their way. Maybe it's easier to fall asleep when you take yourself out of it? This weekend let's make it all about those who have served and keep that gratitude going.
4. MASHPEE FARMER'S MARKET & OTHER CAPE SALTIE SUMMER EVENTS
Alright, friends on Cape, it's that time of year again – Farmer's Market season is back, and so am I. I took time off to get my esthetician's license. My exam next week, by the way, wish me luck! Before that, you'll catch me at Knockabout Brewery in Mashpee Commons, popping up with a little spa-studio in the midst of farm fresh veggies and other local artisans.
We've got some exciting new arrivals, including our NEW Sea Salt & Detox Clay Body Mask (you're going to love the summer scent) and our OG Aromatherapeutic Sea Salt Bath Soaks made infused with pure essential oils and packed with skin-loving benefits. Our Blended Essential Oils will also be making an appearance, so you can create your own little oasis of calm..at home. So, yea, I'm having a blast girlin' it up at Home Goods to decorate my little booth so it feels like the studio. It's all about those personal touches that make you feel right at home, even when you're out n' Knockabout! And, we're just getting warmed up, so swing by and say hi – I can't wait to see you there! I won't be in Mashpee every week so please check the schedule on our EVENTS page to know when we'll be there. Plus... we just posted our most exciting event of the year so find our first here.
5. THE SALTIE BODY SCRUB AT CAPE SALTIE
Last but definitely not least, let's talk about my all-time favorite Summer indulgence – our Saltie Body Scrub Treatment. I mean, who even knows what their backside looks like right now but maybe you want to get a little polished up before suiting up? Maybe you're getting married soon and want to really show off that backless dress. It's been all winter since I have taken a peak at mine. Yikes! That's why I make sure to indulge in a scrub every season. Trust me, your skin will thank you later! Plus, with a 30-minute Swedish Massage, herbal oils, and aromatherapy thrown in, it's the perfect way to kick off summer and treat yourself to a little Cape escape.
