🍂🐚✨ FRIDAY 5 FAVORITE THINGS: HEART OF GOLD

november 5, 2022

Share:

Friday 5. It’s here. OMGee I am brevity challenged. When I sat down, I said this was going to be short. Haha. Luckily you like them, you really like them!! A few of you reached out to me to say you’re glad they’re back. I like writing and keeping a journal of sorts so that encouragement made me feel good. Thank You. And, while we’re on it, let’s start saying Thanks! It is November. October changes, I have mentioned, felt scary. This weekend I feel in my “heart space”. That’s a reference I will share in weeks to come. I am planning Holiday for you… oh my gosh.. smiling writing this. I cannot wait for you to see what’s in store. And, as you’ll see below, I am just enjoying some home-y comforts around the Cape while enjoying work during the day and school at night. It’s the first week of November and I’m already feeling grateful, happy and excited for my favorite season. Excited to share it with you. Here’s the 5..

1. CIDER TOILE PRINT SILK ROBE

Earlier this week I posted some clothes from Cider on IG to see what you thought in a poll. Specifically, I loved the Toile robe and so did you. I wondered if there was a way to bring them on the site and am still exploring. Consider Cider (from Guangzhou, China) a younger, more trendier Zara. It’s always a risk when you purchase from an ad (they got me) so I felt suspense when opening the big package I got. If you haven’t shopped CIDER yet, let me be the first to tell you the quality is fantastic for the price. Wow, I am so impressed! Better than Forever 21 and H&M and it would have to be because I don’t like either of those stores. The quality of CIDER feels more like a Zara or Free People and some pieces are really unique. I already went back for more. PS. I have also liked some “faster” pieces from Princess Polly top like the “Delany” top I am wearing below.

Hi, I'm Jenna

The blogs you'll find here are inspired by my interests in beauty + wellness which developed from collecting fashion magazines during my newspaper carrying days in elementary school. I later attended Umass Lowell and graduated from FIDM before working for world renowned estheticians and beauty brands like Sonya Dakar, Smashbox, Tarte & Tata Harper. Today I am an e-commerce marketer and Amazon specialist for 3 wonderful companies on Cape Cod and newly licensed LMT still studying for my esthetician's license. I'm a curious, color-obsessed creative.

2. THANKSGIVING TASTING — SIP & SAVOR

It’s beginning to look a lot like.. Thanksgiving. I started winding down from my week on Friday night with a Thanksgiving Tasting put on my my favorite local, gourmet-ish market Ring Brothers in Dennis + all their independent purveyors inside. I sampled brined turkey from Dark Horse, prepared sides like garlic mashed potatoes covered in gravy and root vegetables + pumpkin pasta from Nata’s Noodles and some sparkling cranberry lime vodka cocktail from Rieme. Remember going to Sam’s Club or BJ’s as a kid and you wanted to keep going back in the same lines? That wasn’t me. She’s my twin!!!!

Sucker for cute packaging! Time for the Pandoro.

Root vegetables from my favorite, Nata's Noodles.

"Thanksgiving in a cup", say no more. Gravy, I missed you..

3. FIGHT CLUB —THE BEST THRIFT STORE ON CAPE COD

You guys know the first rule of Fight Club is you do not talk about Fight Club but I’m about to reluctantly spill the tea. This is me and my mom’s very favorite thrift store on the Cape. We’ve kept it a secret for years now because - for some time - the prices were so low and we wanted to keep it all to ourselves, selfish bitches.. haha. I’m talking Brooks Brothers Cashmere Sweaters for $20, the classic Ferragamo bow shoes for $25, North Face fleeces for next to nada. Designer is not the norm with every garment there but you are guaranteed to find some treasure .. only the prices now are not nearly as sweet. New management - womp womp. Here I go (takes deep breath) .. Second Glance in Harwich. This weekend I was on the fence about purchasing these glass urchin bowls for a future facial studio. $60! Eeeek.

4. BEACON HILL BOOKS & CAFE

Last week I went to the new Beacon Hill Book Store on 71 Charles St. in the Back Bay with my family. It’s clearly a passionately curated assortment of books for all ages and interests with a warm atmosphere and also, if I may add, a jaw-dropping paint colors on the walls. Leave it to me to focus on the interiors… well I am not at all a bibliophile but this will surely be a celebrated lil’ haunt for people who are.. like my niece! Before going out for a pre-Hallow’s Eve dinner of pumpkin ravioli and sparkling rose (because it was gloriously warm that day - duh) we perused all 4 stories here..

5. GLAMMING + BALMS ON MY DOT COM

This Fall, Spa Tech is in full swing. Each esthetician student has over 60 requirements of services to complete - that includes glam applications. Bring on the glam! I have extensive experience in color cosmetics but most was behind the teams of artistry professionals. While I have had plenty of opportunity to apply makeup, this is the first time I am stepping into a hands on role when it comes to makeup and I love it! Glam services are now live onsite and, already, I have incorporated this into my merchandising philosophy on capesaltie.com. For example, I love a big glossy pink lip. I achieve that with a slightly darker overline (that’s a trend that’s not going away) and rich, petroleum-free Mizzi balm, which is available in ___+ shades. This balm uses a plant-based petroleum jelly alternative jelly which (unlike conventional petroleum jelly) is breathable so it allows lips to heal and get oxygen which (SHOCKER) keeps them smooth/healthy and aids in the body’s natural healing when they are chapped. A scrub before makes them even softer/more supple. My favorite combo ever is the Hibiscus Scrub and Peppermint Balm.
