🎃🤘🙌  FRIDAY 5 FAVORITE THINGS: JENNA TAKES HALLOWEEN 2021

october 31, 2021

Happy Fall. What's new? I fell in love with a recipe blog recently that has me inspired in the kitchen and nostalgic for my old personal blog, Jenna and the Giant Apple. Still use the handle on IG and I contemplated resurrecting the long format version but decided I'd just merge worlds here. Less web maintenance! Plus this girl does a wonderful job sharing interests outside of food and I figure, at least for now, that my creative world and Saltie are very much one and the same so0o0o ... WTFN? Aside from churning out one banger recipe after the next, each week she she shares "9 Favorite Things" which reminds me of my old "Friday 5" - that's like a round up of current loves in both instances. I wanted to kick off the return of my little magpie column with a wink and a nod to my new favorite food blog—that is the ultimate recipe blog, Half Baked Harvest, so that's where we'll get started. Here are 5 of my favorite things I am loving right now.

1. Half Baked Harvest - the Ultimate Recipe Blog

I know I'm late to the party because I have family and friends that have been following her for a while but I just started.. and dove right into the deep end with my boyfriend. We make her recipes at-least once a week, twice if I'm lucky. Is it just me or is this the only blog that gets it without the annoying the pop-ups, spam and drawn out family history? I just want amazing recipes, brevity and a side of pretty photos. Actually, I don't mind when she ties in a personal story because I like getting to know her! Here are some of the delicious and easy HBH dishes we've made so far in a side by side comparison. OK, maybe they're not token Halloween recipes (she has those too) but they are very Fall to us.

Hi, I'm Jenna

The blogs you'll find here are inspired by my interests in beauty + wellness which developed from collecting fashion magazines during my newspaper carrying days in elementary school. I later attended Umass Lowell and graduated from FIDM before working for world renowned estheticians and beauty brands like Sonya Dakar, Smashbox, Tarte & Tata Harper. Today I am an e-commerce marketer and Amazon specialist for 3 wonderful companies on Cape Cod and newly licensed LMT still studying for my esthetician's license. I'm a curious, color-obsessed creative.

2. Udemy Online Courses

Speaking of back to school! I took a copywriting assignment recently where I created content for an Agile Product Development course. The research portion of the project introduced me to a universe of online courses I never considered and inspired me to create a goal where I would complete 5 courses in a subject I'd like to learn more about by the end of the year. Courses could be 60 minutes long or could be 30 hours, maybe more! Udemy has over 155,000 options for courses. I know I am going to take one for time management but that's all I'll share on the development front because the rest will flavor my secret sauce used here 😏 ..

3. CAPE COD'S RAIL TRAIL

I am savoring the end of my running season on Cape Cod's Rail Trail. After a year of intense Anatomy courses (muscles, skin, bones) and Massage Clinics at Spa Tech, I made it a goal to get into a groove of taking better care of myself before introducing services. It's like the saying goes, you can't pour from an empty cup. Right? Is there anything new you're doing this Fall to make yourself feel good? I love the Rail Trail! You can walk, run or ride through six towns on the 25 mile picturesque, paved bikeway. Gigantic ferns, which are symbolic of new life and new beginnings, grow wild alongside the path. I've decided I'll use the flower-less, feathery plant for my reimagined Cape Saltie logo — perfect for the introduction of my new services offering.

4. HALLOWEEN JEWELS

Good things come in small packages.. like Halloween candy! Here are some Halloween theme jewels I love from around the web.

5. GANNI SWEATERS

Sweater weather, baby! Ganni sweaters are my Fall uniform. I grew up wearing one for school and a sweater and jeans is my adult version. Knowing what I am going to wear every day just makes life easier.. and more enjoyable if I love what I'm wearing. I will stakeout ones I like with a price alert on Lyst. Sometimes I am able to catch them for around $100. Hunting (clothes) is sport for me and Fall is my season. Have a wonderful Halloween weekend and thanks for reading! Xx Jenna
